Cuban Palms

Cuban Palms

The Island of Cuba has many endemic species found only on the island and nowhere else.  There are 98 palm taxa of Cuba including distinct species and varieties or subspecies.  Across the island are different climate zones from seasonally wet tropical forest all the way to semi arid like desert.  The soils of Cuba range from serpentine to montane limestone to tropical clay.  These drivers have pushed palms to speciate into some of the most majestic plants on the planet.  I have photographed 48 of the 98 taxa.  The list below is all the palms and some links are active for species I have photographed.  With luck more photos and pages will be added to share information and photos.
