Dioon vovidesii

This speices has been named in honor of Andrew Vovides. It was once Dioon sonorense ‘Bacanora’, and Dioon sonorense was once known as Dioon tomaselli var. sonorense. Much has changed with taxonomy because studies in the habitat leading to a clear understanding that this is different. Factors precipitate the elevation to species are geographic and the rachis color, leaflet angle, and cone. This is a very rare and attractive species, and is easy to grow in cultivation
