Dioon oaxacensis

This species was known for many years as Dioon sp. affinity merolae because it is somewhat hard to distinguish from Dioon merolae.  The differences are the longer persistence of the tomentum, lack of deflexed leaflets, more leaflet pairs, and groupings of spines with oaxacensis.There are several populations in Oaxaca that all share the same morphology. In cultivation the locality El Camaron has been known for many years as a prized collector plant.
