Cycas

Cycas

Cycas come from the family of Cycads. Cycas are native to Asia and Australia and include the best known Cycas, Cycas revoluta or Sago Palm. Virtually all species in the genus Cycas are highly susceptible to scale insect that can ultimately kill the infested plants. Because of the cycad scale, Cycas in Florida are mostly relics or grown by those that don’t mind using harsh pesticides. Fortunately for Cycad enthusiasts, the only Cycads seriously affected by the insect are Cycas and all other genera are easier to maintain as pest-free.
