Ceratozamia zaragozae

Ceratozamia zaragozae

Ceratozamia zaragozae is one of the rarest of all Ceratozamias. A few plants were dug from the wild in the 80’s for the collector market and with habitat loss and slow regeneration very few plants exist in habitat. This plant occurs nestled among large rocks in northern Mexico and has leaves that twist, very fine leaflets, and petioles that are spineless. Companion species are Agave celsii, Hechtia, Mammillaria magnimamma, and Brahea decumbens.
