Ceratozamia mexicana is a name that has been written on many plant labels but until 2016 the name has had little meaning. The plant that is long in cultivation as ‘El Mirador’ is considered Ceratozamia mexicana. The plants are from Veracruz, Mexico, and are found in steep barrancas on the edges of cliffs. New leaves are green emergent. The plant is distinctive in making a very long, arching leaf with an exposed petiole for about 2+feet before the first leaflets.
