Ceratozamia aurantiaca was in cultivation for many years as species Presa Aleman. The anecdotes were about a lake created by a dam that flooded the cycad’s habitat. It was said that the species had not been seen by botanists before they were lost forever. Luckily the plants are extant and a healthy population in Oaxaca has been documented to describe the species. The cultivation of this species is easily distinguished by the orange-colored new leaves when they flush.
