Ceratozamia mexicana is a name that has been written on many plant labels but until 2016 the name has had little meaning.  As a descriptive name for Ceratozamia from Mexico the name has been misused.  Now, the plan long in cultivation as ‘El Mirador’ is considered Ceratozamia mexicana.  Plants are from Veracruz, Mexico and are found in steep barancas on the edges of cliffs.  New leaves are green emergent.  The plant is distictive in making a very long, arching leaf with an exposed petiole for about 2+feet before the first leaflets.  The habit is not upright like Ceratozamia robusta.
