Dioon holmgrenii

back to Nursery pageNursery.html

Dioon holmgrenii is from the Pacific slopes in southern Oaxaca, Mexico.  This species is rarely seen in landscapes and known more to collectors.  The ends of the leaves are imbricate like meroale however at the median the leaflets are flat and opposite like edule.  Usually, one leaf will make a turn like it is waving and that’s another feature that identifies holmgrenii.  New leaves are fuzzy and covered with tomentum.  In cultivation plants are somewhat slow but trouble free.
