Copernicia cowellii is a dwarfish species of palm from the central serpentine soil areas around Camaguey.  There are 4 palms that are the dominant plant in these areas which are Copernicia cowellii and Copernicia hospita (and hybrids of those two) and Coccothrinax pseudoridida and Coccothrinax macroglossa.  Copernicia cowellii is a very attractive palm with numerous blue leaves.  In cultivation Copernicia cowellii can sit for decades without growing more than a foot tall.
