Coccothrinax macroglossa is a palm that has been in cultivation for many years as Coccothrinax azul because the leaves have a blue wax and often have a blue green look.  This is one of 4 palms that copatriate the central serpentine soils around Camaguey and Coccothrinax macroglossa is the largest.  The palms are locally abundant and this species dominates the landscape of otherwise pygmy plants.
